The error in the log file was:<\/p>\n<p><code> FaultException: Management called failed with System.InvalidOperationException: 'Job failed: Have tried to perform backup\/restore operation twice on all in-sync members in cluster SPe6b9ae739be3.0, but none succeeded. They all have one thing in common: it is search related (pretty obvious)\u00a0and means that search was unable to write to the\u00a0back-up location.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0seems that search handles a part of the back-up procedure from within\u00a0it&#8217;s own processes.\u00a0That is, the search service running on SharePoint servers. This means:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Your search servers need to be able to <strong>access<\/strong> the share which is being used for the back-up.<br \/>\n&#8211; The service account running search needs to have <strong>permissions<\/strong> to write to that share.<br \/>\n&#8211; And there should be enough space left, but that&#8217;s a no-brainer I hope.<\/p>\n<p>In my case, the second bullet was where my problem was. I granted the service\u00a0account\u00a0for search\u00a0permissions to the share (Full Control), which solved the error. Same is mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/amolmeshe.blogspot.nl\/2013\/06\/sharepoint-2013-farm-back-error-object.html\">this blogpost<\/a> by Amol Meshe, but he wasn&#8217;t sure on the answer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I ran into an error with back-up procedures on SP2013.
