You&#8217;re not alone! In an effort to do so myself, I&#8217;m starting a monthly series called &#8220;News for developers&#8221; which is exactly that: a summary of all of the Azure flavored news specifically for <strong>software developers<\/strong>. Check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.repsaj.nl\/index.php\/2020\/05\/azure-news-for-developers-the-readme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">readme<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Azure<\/h2>\n<p>Here is a roll-up of all the Azure news which might relate to you as a developer. Note that all services mentioned are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Generally Available<\/span> (GA) so they can be used in production scenarios today. Exact availability of services might vary based on the Azure region you&#8217;re deploying to.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using\u00a0<strong>Azure Dev Spaces?\u00a0<\/strong>It&#8217;s &#8220;about&#8221; to retire. Don&#8217;t worry though, you have until 31 October 2023 to migrate your workloads to <strong>Bridge to Kubernetes<\/strong>. (<a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/updates\/azure-dev-spaces-is-retiring-on-31-october-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Azure App Services now support\u00a0<strong>Private Endpoints<\/strong>. These basically are like a fixed IP on your private virtual network (vnet). Useful for situations where &#8220;internal only&#8221; is what you&#8217;re looking for. (<a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/updates\/app-service-private-endpoints-ga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Azure Key Vault is now a first party event publisher on\u00a0<strong>Azure Event Grid<\/strong>. (<a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/updates\/azure-key-vault-event-grid-integration-is-now-available\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Azure Blob Storage life cycle management now supports <strong>version management for blobs.<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/updates\/azure-blob-storage-lifecycle-management-now-supports-blob-versions-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re a Java dev, know that\u00a0<strong>Java 11<\/strong> is now available for Azure Functions. Come and get it, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.group9.nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Group9<\/a>! (<a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/updates\/java-11-support-for-azure-functions-is-now-generally-available\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>On the topic of Azure Functions, you can now generate a new function using an OpenAPI spec! (<a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/updates\/generate-a-new-function-app-from-an-openapi-specification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Visual Studio &amp; Azure DevOps<\/h2>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the news coming from the Visual Studio and Azure DevOps teams!<\/p>\n<p>For Visual Studio lovers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visual Studio 2019\u00a0<strong>version 16.7<\/strong>\u00a0is out there (<a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/visual-studio-2019-v16-7-releases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link<\/a>) and the preview version is 16.8 preview 3. (<a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/visual-studio-2019-v16-8-preview-3-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Visual Studio 2019 for Mac\u00a0<strong>version 8.7<\/strong>\u00a0is now available (<a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/visual-studio-2019-for-mac-version-8-7-is-now-available\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And these updates were part of sprint 176 &amp; 177 in Azure DevOps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Pull Request experience got a batch of impovements.
